Salsa or Latin style dancing involves three different weight changes or steps, performed to each four-beat measure. Even if a step does not occur, you might kick or tap to the beat. Various interchanges might involve slight modifications from standard steps, depending on specific instructors. Dancers will need to maintain strong upper bodies to perform the steps correctly. Hips often move energetically to perform the steps, while arms remain in an open position. Steps involve turning, twirling, and moving in unison with a partner across the floor. When dancing solo, arms won’t move as much as when working with a partner.

– ‘I started playing tennis around the age of seven. My father, who was a professional soccer player, introduced me and my brother Patrik to the sport. I remember we’d always play against each other from very early on and I hated it when I lost. I was pretty determined to beat him and get revenge. I started spending more and more time on the tennis court, trying to get better and managed to beat my Dad and Patrik. The first time I beat my Dad it felt great.’
